I teach 25 incredible first grade students in Northern California. My school has 57% of our student population on free and reduced price breakfast and lunch. 21% of our students are English Language Learners. My students love to learn and are becoming amazing readers, mathematicians, scientists and citizens. With budget cuts and the goal of teaching the newly adopted Common Core State Standards, I find it increasingly more difficult to provide my students with all of the necessary materials they need to be successful in school.
