I have the pleasure to work with 180 high school students daily. My students are bright, enthusiastic and friendly. Most of them come from lower socio-economic levels and experience poverty on a daily basis. I have a large number of students with disabilities who have diverse needs, especially for mental health. Our calm corner helps them take a moment and breathe and regulate themselves. The school and our classroom serve to be one of their safe spaces. They like to spend time in my classroom even when they have lunch. I have strived to create an environment that meets their needs and provides stability.
