Social Studies is not always looked at as the most exciting subject in school so I want to provide opportunities where students aren't just working out of a textbook! Students need a varied task structure to stay engaged in the learning process.
One essential skill for learning social studies is learning geography so I'd love to give my students the opportunity to "color the world" and provide the materials necessary for completing our various map activities in class. Colored pencils are the ideal choice when completing map activities to ensure that borders and labels are still easily visible after colored.
