As members of a rural elementary school, our students have learned to thrive with modest resources and supplies, especially compared to their peers from the big city. Therefore, they've been content to survive many years learning the subject of 2nd grade social studies without a classroom textbook. But, with state testing of social studies staring them in the face, we need to provide them with a minimum of a leveled reader to independently study.
