My students are full of curiosity and wonder. There are times I thank my stars I was placed among the most genuine of all communities. They have the motivation to create and be productive. So, as I reflect on their various cultures and socio economic backgrounds I am concerned. Our school has a majority of free and reduced lunch population. The world's reality is that they lack adequate support from the family unit for future success. Many have difficulty succeeding in other classes and socializing. By their participating in creating something with their own hands I believe they will gain confidence in themselves. Hands on exploration allows students to make real world connections in the areas of STEM. My students need materials to put their hands and mines to work.
