Like all young children, my students enter the classroom each day eager to absorb knowledge and enjoy new experiences. Unfortunately, my students live in low income households which lack the financial resources to provide the opportunities they deserve. We are a 100% Title 1 school with 95% of our student body eligible for free or reduced lunch. The majority of my 7 and 8 year olds enter the classroom already years behind academically.
As a result, our students need an extra PUSH forward to get them where they need to go. This push comes in the form of seemingly basic school supplies that makes learning increasingly appealing for even our most reluctant learners.
