My students are third graders who are eager to challenge and expand their reading skills through the Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) -- a statewide reading program sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Librarians. The OBOB Selection Committee chooses a list of books each year for each grade level division (in our case Grade 3-5, with a list of 16 books). The books titles are chosen with a wide range of genres, reading levels, and maturity. Students read the books, discuss them, and compete in teams of four students to correctly answer questions about the books in a quiz show format.
