The biggest joy of my life comes in a package of 12-15 students with severe disabilities. Some students have Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other medical and intellectual conditions. We are very diverse with 60 percent of us being Hispanic! We are in a Title one school so poverty is a reality we know well. Though others see us for our limitations and challenges, we see our educational world as limitless! We love reading, math, writing, science, art, and of course recess!!!! Right now is a special time for students with severe disabilities as curriculum for us has never been so accessible, with the exception of funding. We need specialized hands on materials to fully explore the world of knowledge that we crave in all areas of academics and self help development.
