Our students are a unique mix of children with many challenges. When our students enter kindergarten, they come to us with very little background or vocabulary. They do not have the life experiences that many other more fortunate students have. Therefore, we have to work harder as their teachers to build that background knowledge and provide them with a strong foundation to learn. In addition, close to half of our third grade students are transitioning into learning English as a second language. This creates many issues for our students, and again requires more dedication and hard work. The students in our building rise above all of these factors year after year, and continue to show academic growth.
About my class
