My classroom is in a small city which is very diverse. In our schools over 70 languages are spoken so that keeps it interesting when teaching. The students come from economically diverse households as well. The school I work at has a rate of 80% free and reduced lunch students. This district is lucky to be able to provide students with breakfast daily as well as a fresh fruit/vegetable snack. Their bodies are nourished so as teachers we are able to focus on their minds.
The school I work in was a failing school 4 years ago. With a lot of hard work by the staff and the students the school is now thriving. Pre-K is one of the recent additions as another way to help the school succeed long term.
