I work with students in second through sixth grade. Many of my students are English language learners and some of my students have learning disabilities in reading. The students live and learn in a dual language culture. Each grade level at my school has one dual language classroom - half the day in Spanish, half the day in English. My students who are not in dual langue classrooms often learn from an English-speaking teacher, then go home to Spanish-speaking households. My students thirst for robust texts they can connect with as well as texts that take them on journeys far outside of our Phoenix community.
