My students are wonderful and diverse in every way. Our area is both very poor and very affluent. We have a 20% poverty rate, and yet live within 12 miles of the biggest campus of one of the largest technology companies in the world. We have students who are skipping along looking for more challenges, and students who are just keeping up. All of them need access to appropriate leveled readers, especially selections of non-fiction reading materials. We are sorely lacking enough non-fiction choices for them.
