My second grade students come from low income, Spanish speaking families. Most don't have access to technology, so it's very difficult for them to practice reading at home using online programs. They are struggling readers working 1 or 2 years below their grade level. They are very needy in many ways and want to learn. Our school focuses on helping the students achieve their greatest potential. Teachers are very dedicated and the administration is very supportive. Still, financial deficits don't allow each classroom to have the necessary equipment to benefit from the technology that is available.
