I have a wonderful group of first grade students this year! I currently have 28 friends in my class. I teach at a small school in Newport Beach, California. It is a wonderful place to teach. The school is a neighborhood school which is so unique this day and age.
This is a special year for me, as about half of the children in my class are siblings of older students I have had before. It is so fun for me to build even stronger relationships with families I already know.
My class is really loving first grade. My students are excited to learn and love to try new things. One thing they are so happy about is reading! First grade is such an important year for reading and I see the children in my class just taking off! My class also loves art. I am trying to incorporate it across subject matter so they are exposed to art as much as possible. Art can enhance student learning and in first grade, really help develop fine motor skills.
