My class is a Crock-pot of diversity: some from families with deep roots in Hawaii, others with ever-moving families in the military. We have a full-inclusion class with a range of abilities, but a common struggle is processing auditory and written instruction. My students have an awesome energy and, once engaged, encourage each other to learn what they have learned, too. Many are involved in multiple sports and band. Others are active in our renowned performing arts program. Our community is tight-knit, so a lot of these students have known each other for many years before high school.
