I have chosen two sets of materials. The first set will enable freshman in high school to add tools to their academic tool box to help them be better prepared to meet school success. Not only will these tools help them navigate high school, but they will also be of value in their world beyond high school.
The second set of materials chosen will be to help my freshman develop a greater mastery of vocabulary to help them score higher in the SAT and ACT college entrance exams. Many of my students are immigrants from Latin American countries. They begin learning English later in their academic years and are at a disadvantage when their test scores are compared to the norm. I feel that a daily dose of vocabulary can help bridge that gap.
