91% of the students at my school are considered economically disadvantaged and 55% are at-rick students. 95% of our students are receiving Free or Reduced lunches. Our students come from all walks of life and economic backgrounds. However, when they enter my classroom, they become my students. I love and treat them as if they were my own.
My expectations for my students are personal and on an individual basis. I encourage them to read at every given moment. They have become truly gifted at finding time to read in and outside my room. My students need a variety of books to meet their reading goals, a rug for the library, shelving, and reading cushions to enhance floor seating.
