I started my musical journey (aside from general music in elementary school) in 5th grade when I started playing the flute in the school band in Wheeling, West Virginia. In addition to band, I joined choir in 7th grade as a soprano and participated in both through high school. In addition to concert band and choir, I also participated in marching band and steel drum band in high school. I went to college at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio and received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education K-12 and my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. I met my husband at band camp in college. He is also a music teacher and a percussionist. We moved to Yuma, Arizona where I taught K-8 General music class, 3rd-6th choir and 5th-6th band at Gary A. Knox Elementary School for 5 years. During that time I was awarded Yuma County Special Area Teacher of the Year. After that time I taught 5th-8th band at Mesquite
