I have 31 students of all levels in an inner-city school, some of whom barely speak or speak no English, but what they all have in common is that they love learning. They want to succeed. They have a healthy appetite for competition. It is exciting to see the competitive nature in them and that they are competitive not about sports or a game, but about learning. They understand that every teacher and administrator in the building has high expectations for them and that we expect them to set expectations for themselves just as high. Our school is very dedicated to doing what it takes to help all of the students succeed. The focus daily is on student achievement and the adjustments that we make to make sure that we are helping them. The parents of our school are very supportive. They understand the importance of being visible and pushing their children to strive for greatness.
