The students I teach are diagnosed with various moderate to severe disabilities, mostly Autism. All my students are fully included in a general education classroom and have a passion for learning. Most of my students have learned to communicate using a picture/symbol exchange communication system. This communication system is supporting my students' ability to communicate orally. My students struggle most with social skills, dealing with change and communication. Through my students' IEPs the district provides para-educator support to help teach them strategies to help them communicate, socialize and prepare them for change.
About my class
