Our school is a Title I school with 61% of our students on free or reduced lunch. We also have a high percentage of our students currently living in poverty. The majority of our students are currently performing well below grade level in all subjects areas. We also have a high number of students with ADHD that struggle with focusing in class. Research has shown that when students sit on a stability ball, they are physically involved and therefore, are able to stay focused and become more involved with the lessons and help them retain the information. We are concerned not only about the students academics, but about their physical developmental health and well being. These stability balls will allow students to work on their abdominal core strength as well as help the students stay focused in the classroom and hopefully make high academic growth.
