Our school is an elementary school located in a small rural community in the south. Our student population is 620 students: 45% white, 25% African American, 25% Hispanic, 5% other. We are a Title I school which means 83% of our students come from economically disadvantaged homes. Access to digital equipment for these students is very limited. My students are 3rd, 4th and 5th graders that research, interview, write scripts, practice, record and prepare a news show for the next school day. These students love to learn job skills, work with equipment, use their imaginations and creativity to bring it all to life on a camera. They design and construct sets for each month, create news reports about what is happening around the school and make the CBTV News as interesting as possible for their fellow students and staff. CBTV News is also used to teach vocabulary skills, proper character traits and life skills to be productive and responsible citizens too all our students. We change the world.
