Hello my name is Yuneisy Morell and I teach Intensive Reading for grades 6-8 at Ponce de Leon Middle School in Miami. I teach 140 below level readers from an array of backgrounds (mainly African Americans and Hispanics). My school is a title 1 schools which means that all my students are on free or reduced lunch. I teach the lowest 25% of the student body and the needs are many when it comes to reading skills. Unfortunately, these students have grown to dislike reading and it's up to me to close the gap and be able to reach all learners. In spite of the many challenges, all my students have an undeniable hunger for knowledge and learning. They all want to be successful readers. As a teacher I strive to provide an environment where they can thrive and learn. With your help, I am sure we can make the difference and help my student be successful.
