My school is a "last chance" school for many of my students. My school provides students with small class sizes, a great mental health team, and one-on-one attention to help prevent them from "falling through the cracks". While we have an amazing staff to support our students emotionally, we now need to support them academically by providing them with books. My middle school students have grown up in an environment in which they have not been able to experience the joy and satisfaction of reading. They are reluctant to even pick up a book because they lack self-confidence.
