My school is located in a culturally diverse low SES neighborhood. 100% of our students receive free lunches. Many of my students have difficult lives or struggle with difficult situations. Fiction is a great way to guide young people into making better choices. Fiction can demonstrate how important it is to surround yourself with positive friends. Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore would certainly be two great characters that I would want my student to know.
