My students come from an economically disadvantaged background. Many do not have books at home. Some of the students come from broken families, I try to make my classroom a comfortable safe area where students are able to talk to me. My school is a Title I school, which means we are a school with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. We are trying to close the achievement gap between low-income and other students to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.
My classroom has a very diverse range of students, but Every student will succeed.
