My 4th grade students come to school hungry to learn about life beyond their urban neighborhood. They are nine and ten years old and they come to school not only to learn, but to have a place to call home. Many love coming to school because there is a stable routine, they have many friends, and they are loved. They love science, sports, and learning anything new. My students dream of becoming scientists, poets, athletes, and writers. I teach every subject to students and our day is very fast paced; filled with lots of fun and interactive learning. Most students love to read and often become lost in the stories they read. At the end of the school year, I want my students to have a better understanding of the material in 4th grade and to be excited for what's to come next year.
