My students are the most determined students in our building. They are well below grade level - some in reading only, others in all academic areas. As 5th & 6th graders, many are reading at or below a 1st grade level. They are determined to become better readers, but traditional instruction simply hasn't helped them. They are motivated and feel success with the online program we've been using, which is spilling over into other classes. For the first time ever, my lowest readers have unbelievable confidence in their abilities. I'm honored to witness their growth. Unfortunately, we do not have enough technology to go around in our building. I feel that my kiddos need the technology more so than the typical kid. Many come from low income families and do not have access to computers or other forms of technology at home. They enjoy and are motivated by technology at school.
