I teach in an 8th grade middle school science classroom where my students are eager to learn. 95% of students at my school are eligible for the free lunch program and 60% are English language learners. They live in a high crime and high poverty area in which they encounter violence, gangs and drugs when they leave school. Many of my students stay after school in order to avoid going home to this environment because it is where they feel safe and can continue learning. I want to provide them with engaging hands on learning experiences with STEM related projects during the normal school day as well as after school. Thank you for helping my students to have these valuable educational experiences that will inspire them to keep learning and have hope for their futures.
