My students are second graders, who vary greatly in reading ability and interest. I have ELL students who have no opportunities to read at home, because their parents do not speak English, and I have students who throw themselves into chapter books each night, with their parent's guiding the way. They are engaged students who always want to participate even if they aren't sure what the answer is. They are not afraid to be "wrong" and are always willing to help one another. My students encourage each other and help one another through academics that they struggle with. My students understand that not every one knows everything but that together we can help one another reach our learning goals.
