Welcome to Mr. Feldman's class.
We are a group of dedicated first grade scientists. In our bilingual class, we learn in Spanish until lunch and in English after lunch. We speak English, Spanish, Zapotec, and Mixteco (Indigenous languages from Mexico) in our homes. Many of our families work in the strawberry fields in Watsonville.
I am a full time classroom teacher. In addition, I advocate for science buy working with the Montery Bay Aquarium teacher training programs, and by teaching all 100 first graders at my school science. I also advocate for my Indigenous students by editing and writing books that use their languages. My class has been featured on Latino USA, and in 2015 I was the Santa Cruz County teacher of the year.
