My students, 25 African American boys and girls, live in a large urban area and have chosen to attend our public charter school, which is in its first year. We had a very rocky start to our school year - our building wasn't ready on time and we had to share space with another school. We lost many of our teaching materials when the under-construction building flooded. We had 4 days off of school due to snow and cold - unheard of in our city! We had many setbacks to our learning this year and I want to make up for it. My students deserve the best. They are smart, avid readers, and I need your help to make a difference for them.
