My students are amazing. They come from very low income families, but still have such a great attitude towards school. I am trying to make our classroom as home like as possible which is one of the reasons why we would like the rug. I believe that the more a student is comfortable in their surroundings, the better they are going to learn.
Most of my students have brothers and sisters at home that they have to share a room with. I have equipped my classroom with desks so students feel like they have a place of their own. Now all we need is the rug so they can feel like they have a place of their own to learn when we are on the floor. Our school is very family oriented and located right in the middle of the neighborhood. We strive for success for all students. We are part of an early literacy grant that is helping our students become proficient readers with intervention teams to help with reading.
