Energetic, hardworking, motivated, determined...these are the words that pop in my head when I describe my students. I teach in an low income urban setting where all my students are English Language Learners. They vary from new immigrants entering an American school, to students who are becoming proficient English speakers. This group of students yearns to learn about everything from decoding words to applying reading skills to learning about the American culture. From the start of the school day to the ring of the last school bell, the students are always very engaged in their learning. Inspired by their dedication to their own education, they motivate me to work even harder to provide a challenging academic program which fosters them into becoming global learners and to appreciate learning through collaboration.
