My students are eager, excited and ready to learn every day. My students try really hard to strive to be their best although most do not speak English. They would greatly benefit from an interactive white board. I teach first grade in the oldest school building in South Philadelphia. Our school population is 100% economically disadvantaged and 40% English Language Learners. All students get free breakfast and lunch. Our students come from different countries all over the world including Nepal, Burma, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Mexico, Central America, Laos and Philadelphia. Our school provides a welcoming, safe and encouraging environment for our students, families and staff. Although most of the parents do not speak English, they are very involved in their child's academics. We use a variety of resources to communicate with the families of the students so that each child can succeed in school. Our families aspire to succeed and achieve their goal of living the American Dream.
