My kindergartners are so excited to learn. We have had an amazing start to our year. When it is time for them to read, many of them say,"I can't read!" I want them to know they can read in many ways other than reading the words. And as they become able to read the words, I want them to establish a love for reading---NOW---at a young age. My school staff and principal are so supportive and loving. We send the message that students can feel safe at school, they can be successful, believe in themselves, and we practice positive attitudes along with the attitude that all students are college bound. I am so excited to be the first educational influence in the lives of these children. I know that having items such as bean bags for reading time go along with our curriculum that teaches kids that we read better when we are comfortable. I want our classroom to feel like a home away from home-where students know there are expectations, yet they can feel comfortable and happy.
