I teach in a Title 1 school. My class consists of 19 kindergarten students. All 19 of my students receive free lunch. And of that 19, only one has access to a computer in their home. Many do not have books at home to read but love listening to stories. My students loves to learn and are excited when they accomplish new task. Unfortunately many do not receive the necessary help at home that is needed. In August at the start of the new school year 50% of my students were unable to write their names and 95% were unable to identify the alphabet and their sounds. As of now my student are not only writing first and last names but also sentences. They have come a long way.
