My school is a Title 1 school with predominantly African-American students. I have 25 students that come from predominantly single and low-income homes. The students are all African-Americans and live within the school neighborhood. They are eager to learn. My most pressing concern is instilling in each one of them that they are important and that they matter. Most of them have known each other since kindergarten grade so they are very supportive and caring of each other. I am blessed to have extremely supportive parents that want more for their son/daughter then they have. My job, as their teacher, is easier because of that.
