Positive reinforcement is something that I really believe! In the classroom, I try to acknowledge all the positive behaviors possible through verbal praise, incentives as well as through expression. Because of the challenges my students face at home, they come to school often with volatile attitudes and treat others negatively through their words and actions. We talk about positive attitudes and personal space (not touching others or their property inappropriately) every day!
I feel individual student desks would give my students the space they need to stay focused yet through placement of the desks, still work collaboratively with each other!
