My students love to learn! They are always excited to read individually or as a group. They also like showing how much English they have acquired.
The rug I have requested would allow them to curl up with a book to read, or stretch out to work on a project. Currently their only options are to sit in chairs or work on the tile floor. I can't help but imagine them eagerly choosing to sit on a soft, inviting rug. It would also give me another location to have class meetings. My younger students learn best through manipulates. Their being able to do this with room to move around would be more effective. Also, it is important to me that my students feel they are in a community, another way to do that would be to sit around a rug and share or read together.
Another way to feel they are in a community would be if they could all look at their peers or myself while speaking or listening at all times. Kidney tables allow students to interact with their peers and be in close proximity to the teacher. They will able to make greater strides in the reading and writing skills they have not yet acquired because I monitor their progress and conference with them easily.
Your help will ensure that my students are given every available advantage in gaining the reading and writing skills needed to become successful with their English Acquisition.
