I currently teach at a Title I School, 6th-grade students in a semi-rural SC coastal community. Students at my school are "at-risk" due to their socio-economic status. The ethnic composition is approximately 60% Black, 36 % White, 4% Hispanic, and 1% Asian. Many students live in a single-parent household or with a grandparent or non-parent guardian. Students at my school enjoy sports, video games, text messaging, music, hunting, after school activities, and fashion. My students are great kids and eager to learn; but, they have very limited educational resources, experiences, and support outside of the school setting. Students I teach enjoy coming to school.
