Our school is a mix of urban and suburban. About 70% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch. We have some amazing young people at our school. The school is fairly small, with about 550 students from grades 6-8. Energy Club has 24 members representing 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The students focus on how they can make a difference by learning about energy and teaching others. They have hosted school and community events to share what they have learned about energy and conservation. These events have provided opportunities for leadership and hands-on learning. Last year their service projects earned them the state level NEED Jr. Level Most Outstanding School award and this year they received the Jefferson Award for Public Service for December 2013.
