Technological literacy is essential if our students are to be competitive in a 21st Century, global economy. As a result of this, integrating technology into classroom instruction should be one of the top priorities of any good educator. The Linksys routers will give students confident to enter the work world with having actually used real equipment and not just only simulators.
Access to The Cisco/ Linksys routers would allow students to be active participants in the hands-on learning process of setting up home and small business networks rather than passive recipients of information. The Computer Memory modules would breath new life into 13 year old desktop that the student access curriculum. The Cisco Networking Academy has provided a simulator for students to use; however, nothing is better than to have the actual Cisco / Linksys routers in student's hands and conducting real-life computer networking lab that could lead to employment.
Using this networking equipment in a collaborative learning environment for experimenting, and technical application skills, rather than just simple drills and practice, helps foster student creativity, collaboration, and communication.
