Our students often struggle with finding ways to release their emotions in a productive and safe way. I am requesting a variety of items that will be used to transform our current time-out room, where students experiencing outbursts are sent, into a cool down, time-out room.
This room will be a safe space for kids to work through their emotions without risking harm to themselves or other students. These tools will be available to all of our students when they need them. Items such as bean bag chairs, soft rugs, and foam mats will help us keep our kids safe during stressful times, while the sensory fidgets will help teach them how to calm down without acting out.
When students can cope with their emotions, they are then able to return to class in order to participate in instructional time. Help us reach our goal before the semester ends!
