I teach first grade in a high poverty school. My students are eager learners and they work in a collaborative classroom community. The enjoy small group work so I have created a classroom setting where literacy and math include small group work on a daily basis. When you ask them about their future, they chant back "we are college bound kids"! Nothing will stop them from achieving that goal!
