Currently I am a Reading Specialist at Naval Avenue Elementary. We are a High Poverty school with limited resources for our students. During the day, I see 27 students that are pulled from their classrooms for intense reading instruction. The students that I serve are at least 1 grade level behind their peers; some more. These students work on specific interventions that are targeted at meeting their specific learning needs.
The students in my class try very hard even though they are aware of their inabilities.
They are working hard to increase their reading levels and close the gaps in their education.
