My school is a Title 1 school, located in urban Las Vegas, Nevada. This year 93.9% of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. We also provide monthly Grocery Give Aways, and weekend food bags for those students who are in extreme need. Our English Language Learner population is 58.5%. Even with all the struggles in their lives, my students come to school each day with a positive attitude and are excited to learn. Our class has already earned three awards for perfect attendance since the beginning of the school year. They appreciate anything that is given to them...even a special eraser or pencil can bring a smile to their faces. This is the best class of students I have had since I began my teaching career more than twenty years ago. They work hard, follow school and classroom rules, and have become a team that shows respect and responsibility, both to each other and our school community.
