I am a full day kindergarten teacher at an inner city elementary school. My students are second language learners, learning English as their second language. Every year over 90% of my students receive free/reduced lunch status. My students love to come to school. They are rarely absent. Most of my students live in 1 room apartments or studios where they share bathrooms and the kitchen with other residents. They show up to school ready to learn. At the age of 5, my students are learning math, writing, reading, social studies, science, physical education, music, and art. They are excited, curious and enthusiastic about learning!
