Student choice in the classroom fosters students empowerment. When students feel empowered, they will take responsibility for their own learning through their accomplishments and achievements! One easy way to offer student choice is through flexible seating. Although we cannot be as flexible as normal due to COVID, I still want to create spaces in our classroom for children to escape to their own learning and expressions; whether that be in the library, math lab, or science corner. Most of my flexible seating is for the smaller kids- I need seats that grew as my students did! I am looking for comfortable, creative, and sturdy seating options for students to use (when appropriate!) during our school day.
