With an enrollment over 500 students, my school is the biggest elementary school in our district. The school is situated in the heart of the roughest neighborhood in the city. I have 26 kindergarteners in my class, many of whom are below poverty level. I love to see the excitement in their eyes when they come in every morning. My students are so eager to learn. Their eagerness makes me want to do everything I can for them so that they feel safe, happy, and respected within the walls of our room because unfortunately many of them are not able to feel this way in their homes. I have a group of talented children. All of my students are very different from each other. I have some kids that have a very outgoing personality that love to make the class laugh. A few of them are more introverted. Some of my students are great dancers while others are great drawers and painters. What all of my students have in common is that they all come to school each day with a positive attitude.
